Authors' Guidelines

The Journal of Journal of Immunology Research and Infectious Diseases (JIRID) invites high-quality submissions that advance understanding and innovation in virology, immunology, and vaccine research. We welcome a wide range of manuscript types, including original research articles, clinical trials, systematic reviews, brief reports, technical notes, case studies, perspectives, and letters to the editor.

Manuscripts must be submitted via our online submission system. In case of technical difficulties, submissions can be emailed to: editor.JIRID@acadwise.com.

The corresponding author serves as the main point of contact throughout the review and publication process and is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the submission.

By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that:

  • The work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All authors have reviewed and approved the final version.
  • All applicable ethical standards and institutional approvals have been met.

The Journal of Immunology Research and Infectious Diseases (JIRID) publishes original and high-impact research that advances understanding in immunology, host-pathogen interactions, infectious diseases, immune system disorders, and related therapeutic innovations. We accept a broad range of manuscript types that reflect the depth and diversity of immunological and infectious disease research.

All submissions must comply with ethical publishing practices guided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This includes proper ethical approvals, informed consent where applicable, and full disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding sources.

1. Original Research Article

Reports of novel and scientifically sound experimental or clinical findings in immunology or infectious diseases.
Structure:
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Introduction
• Materials and Methods
• Results
• Discussion
• Conclusion

2. Review Article

Comprehensive and critical evaluations of existing literature on key topics. Should highlight gaps, controversies, and potential research directions.

3. Systematic Review

Structured reviews that follow defined methodologies to answer specific scientific or clinical questions. Must follow PRISMA guidelines and be registered (e.g., PROSPERO).
Must include:
• Search strategy
• Selection criteria
• Risk of bias assessment
• PRISMA flow diagram

4. Brief Report

Concise articles reporting impactful preliminary data or pilot studies in immunology or infectious disease surveillance.

5. Case Report

Thorough documentation of rare or insightful clinical cases related to immunological disorders, infections, or unusual presentations. Requires patient consent.
Structure:
• Abstract
• Keywords
• Introduction
• Case Description
• Discussion
• Conclusion

6. Case Series

Grouped case presentations demonstrating patterns, clinical variations, or outcomes within a specific disease or treatment context.

7. Clinical Trial Report

Results of interventional or observational studies. Must follow CONSORT guidelines and include trial registration details.

8. Hypothesis

Presentation of novel scientific hypotheses with theoretical or preliminary data justification relevant to immunology or infectious diseases.

9. Protocol

Peer-reviewed descriptions of planned or ongoing studies (e.g., vaccine trials, diagnostic development, immune response profiling). Registration is strongly encouraged.

10. Registered Report

Study design evaluated and peer-reviewed prior to data collection. Promotes research transparency and minimizes outcome bias.

11. Communication

Rapid dissemination of important or urgent findings with immediate relevance to the research or clinical community.

12. Perspective

Forward-looking pieces exploring innovations, future challenges, or policy implications in immunology and infectious diseases.

13. Opinion

Evidence-based commentaries or viewpoints on emerging issues or controversies in the field. Clearly marked as opinion.

14. Commentary

Scholarly discussion or critique of a recently published article.
Structure:
• Title
• Abstract (~150 words, unstructured)

We invite your contributions to help advance scientific and clinical understanding in immunology and infectious diseases.

All submissions undergo rigorous double-blind peer review, ensuring the anonymity of both authors and reviewers. Manuscripts are assessed on originality, scientific rigor, clarity, and relevance to JIRID’s scope. Authors may recommend reviewers, but final selection is at the editors’ discretion.

JIRID follows a gold open-access model, ensuring free access to all published content. An Article Processing Charge (APC) applies upon acceptance. Full fee details are available on our website.

We offer APC waivers or discounts for authors from low-income countries and for those without research funding; requests can be submitted during the submission process.

Upon acceptance, authors agree to transfer copyright to JIRID. Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), allowing non-commercial reuse with appropriate attribution.

Authors must adhere to the highest standards of research integrity. Where applicable:

  • Provide details of ethical approval for studies involving humans or animals
  • Ensure datasets are made publicly available or accessible upon request
  • Describe methods thoroughly to enable replication

Authors are expected to promptly inform the editorial office of any errors or inaccuracies identified after publication. Corrections, retractions, or notices will be issued in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

Submitting a manuscript or withdrawing is solely the interest of an author and we respect their decision. Withdrawal of a manuscript will be permitted only for the most unavoidable reasons, as it wastes the valuable resources and tremendous amount of effort made in processing the manuscripts by the editors, reviewers and the editorial staff.

Authors are entitled to change their mind regarding submitting or withdrawing their articles and they can withdraw their article at no charge - if withdrawn within 3 days of its initial submission only. If the author(s) requests a withdrawal of manuscript any time after the peer review process or in the production stage (Early release) or after it is published online- they will be subjected to payment of 60% of the original article processing fee.
